Single Turbo, Stock Ports, Fast spool
Single Turbo, Stock Ports, Fast spool
Hey guys, ive searched and really didnt turn up a whole lot. Anyways figuring im running a stock port *most likely not but worst case senario :0* Holset hx35, work on 3rd gen with custom manifold? I understand t3 footprint which would equal very fast spool up which is what im looking for, and heard they do well over 50psi on turbodeisil without issues, so how would it run ona 13brew with stock ports? Also, same with hx-40 how do you guys think these things would respond?
T3 boosting over 50 psi? I've never heard of that... I would recommend some sort of 60-1 turbo, T60, or GT35, I' ve heard people having trouble with Holsets. Any of those will spool fairly quick and give you great mid range power.

you can't compare PSI levels for a diesel and gas turbo cars. The diesel runs much leaner and therefore runs a much smaller cfm and have a much more restrictive intake system to ensure high gas velocities to ensure the best burn possible....anyways...details
So 50 psi on a diesel...the turbo is working as hard and pumping as much air as 12-14 psi on a gas engine.
apples and oranges...don't expect to draw any good conclusions

i still don't understand fully why not to use a holset? I'm pretty sure there are a few people running them with good results... Wasn't SR selling them as is or w/ a KKK compressor housing and I remember somebody made 500whp on stock ports? Ernie T. I think it was.... That was not the hx35 like many thought though, i think it was either a h1c or h1e. The h1c was from the earlier cummins rams... I heard the argument that diesel turbos don't spin as fast as gas usually do, but I found a page that said that the diesel guys were spinning them up to ~200,000 w/o any problems.... I just really wish there were some available compressor maps for the holsets. That would make life so much easier.
