Single Turbo?

I am looking into going single turbo. My budget is about $3300 (turbo kit). I have researched for a while and now is time get some opinions from the Forum.

Which/who's turbo kit would you get and why if you were doing it again?

thanks!

You need to give more info. What kind of power you want to make. Does lag bother you?

I have been to all these but I need the input of the people with the actual kits! What they think of their kits and would they do anything differently if they had to do it again?

Thanks

i have a full greddy t78 turbo kit(67mm turbo) if i were to do it again i would either
a.) go completely custom(manifold, downpipe etc) and pair with with a nice precision turbo probably the pt-72 and call it day.. only take this option if you the resources for it a.k.a someone with sick welding skills or aomeone that actually builds manifold etc...
b.) i would probably go with sean(aspec) 500r kit or j just go all in and go gt42r

Thanks showoff,
so you would not go T78 route again, why not and why GT42 and not R85 or one of the Gotham Racing equivalent?

Thanks again for your honest opinion!

the t78 is a very good and reliable turbo but old technology i consider it a medium sized turbo and if i wasnt going to get a bigger 1 the a-spec gt35rs aka 500r is the way to go quicker spool and same power..... i have heard great things about gotham racing turbo kits, but i just dont know anyone who has run them first hand, iam sure theres quite a few people on the forum but ii tend to make my decisions based on what i see first hand, and first hand ive seen the gt42r dominant no matter what car it was on.. ams evo i believe was running the gt42r when it dyno'd 1000horsepower, the supra guys run gt42r's with great results, there are a few forum members with 600rwhp plus with the gt42r, and even honda's are doing well with it.. the only reason i wouldnt go with the gt42r is because i dont want to jump on the bandwagon and be like everyone else..

That 's when you build something a little different, and to be honest build your car for you let the others do as they may

In my opinion the gt42r is not a viable street turbo, too large and too much lag.

14.7 psi, i am assuming you plan to run on 93 octane so at most 17 psi?

The 500r definitely has made good numbers, and is an intriguing setup. It's still pretty new so not lots of guys posting results yet, and evidently there is a waiting list.

Sean, is the 500r compressor a 60-61mm?

I have been thinking of going single myself recently, and have been looking at the GR67 with the dual ball bearing option. A guy here locally trapped 128mph in the 1/4 with this kit on a streetported engine and pump gas, which is insanely fast in my book for pump gas boost levels.....

Thanks for some good info GoodfellaFD3S!!!

Yea I was looking into GR67 also, but this 500r sound very interesting. Didn't realize there is a waiting list for 500r do we know how long.
Does anyone have any solid info on 500r or gr67?+

thanks

A-spec has dyno videos in there section of the 500R doing ~450rwhp @ 14psi. I think there is a video and dyno sheet of a 503rwhp @20psi run for the 500R as well. Not sure where that is. I know I saw it though.

You're welcome

Do a search under username 'cripsr6' to find a dyno sheet on the GR67.

Dan, forum name Scrub, has a gr67 with some dyno sheets posted too. You can do a search for that too.
