silicone hose clamps

help!!!

I have 3k on my new streetported turboII block and I have to start the tuning now... one of the intercooler pipes is blowing out though.... I had the boost set to minimum... like 4 psi on a 60-1 hifi and it kept blowing off. I got some new clamps and refit and retightened everything. So... I turn up the boost by turning the screw on my wastegate. When I floor it... from 2500 in 2nd... the car starts building fast... at 3500 rpms and about 4 lbs... the car starts to leap forward... at just above 4000 rpms the boost shoots up and the car stumbles... I get more power when i lift a little on the gas pedal. At 4lbs of boost the car revs quickly and cleanly through the whole rpm band... but anything at 5 psi or above the car stumbles through the rpms; and whenever I check the silicone hoses... that same trouble hose... the intercooler piping has blown out enough to be barely connected. It appears that when I am boosting that the pipe is separating from the hose. I am going with a clamp one size smaller to see if it will seal at higher boost levels. When I get my pipes sealed properly at boost... will my "stumbling" problem go away?

I will have to get the clamps on monday because the place that sells them is closed till then...

Gurus... please make me feel better and tell me that my car is going to run hard once I get the piping issue resolved. Or at least run cleanly through the power band. The guy who built my motor had a similar setup as mine... and when his boost hit... it slammed you back in the seat and the car felt like the front two wheels where going to lift.

advice? thx.

I bet:
You're not using a "bump" or "hump" hose in one of the connections...
You're not using the rule of thumb of having at least 1/4" - 1/2" of hose edge after the clamp itself...
You're trying to get too "short" of a hose for the application...

You happened to have a pic of this problem hose location?

...Or he may not have a stay on the end of the pipes. That helped me from not blowing my pipes all the time.

Not trying to jack the thread but I have a simple question...

I noticed my hose keeps popping off near the throttle body, (this is not with my RX-7) becuase theres a tiny bit of oil building up around the pipe the previous owner put in there to connect the two. It looks like he fabbed up something and it needs to be a real transition type connection.

I agree with Ted that if you get a hump/bump connection it will 99% fix the problem. On to my question..

Is there a place (online???) to buy one of those connectors with the humps/bumps in them? I need one for one for my car... Or do I need to search the local shops for something...

Thanks,
-Brian.
