Should I be using a divided housing on my to4s?

I've benn using a non-divided and a non-divided manifold on my single to4s set up on a 93 gen. Can this contribute to an increase in lag? What is the sole function behind the dividing of the two? Will I see a BIG difference if I switch?
Thanks D

With a divided manifold and housing the exhaust pulses flow more continuously due to the gases joining before the turbine housing. Supposedly good for a 300-500 rpm decrease in spool-up.
