shaft play when old?
I got a used turbo (60-1) that's been sitting dry for quite awhile.
It has absolutely no front to back shaft play but radially it feels a tad loose. If I press pretty hard, it seems like the compressor will barely kiss the housing. I can't really feel it, but you can hear a very metal ping if you press hard and spin it. Like pressing will not move it this far.
I'm wondering if because this turbo has been sitting dry for over a year, maybe 2 or 3 if this is a problem or if maybe when it's running with some oil in it it will firm up a bit.
The turbo supposedly has only 4000 miiles on it and no abuse. It is a garrett, not a cheap copy. NOT a BB
thanks
