If I had it to do over again….gt35R true divided.

For my goals, puts me right smack dab in the middle of the efficiency range.

On a car as light as yours, that kind of power will be a handful, and if you are strictly talking about dragging the car you will probably need to find more traction before any of the standard turboes talked about in here are chosen based on how you can use the power you will have. Maybe racelogics traction control will be a good investment at the power you are talking about for drivability.

I think you should defiantly get something that will still allow you to have fun on the street. I have read of a lot of people that make purpose built machines that don’t really have a lot of fun with there “badass/dynoqueen” machine.

 

Yep that is a concern. I need to make sure that the power can get to the ground. Currently I have 225s on the rear. After a while I will have fender flares fitted and put a little bigger meats on the rear in order to accomadate the hp gain.

Boost will be set at about 10 for street driving and am hoping for 324-350 on this boost level. IMO this will be able to be handled on the street. I wanted to put 245 on the rear(maybe larger) But at this point have not really looked into it so I cannot quote fitment issues that might occur.

As far as the weight goes I believe that my car weighs pretty much the same as a 3rd gen. IIRC it is right around 2700lbs. Partially because it is a SE. Other models are in the first gen era are less. As mentioned above I think that my real issues are going to be with the tire width.

oh man......I keep reading more and more threads with different turbos and now I realy can't decide what to use on my Cosmo swap.

 

I know what you mean...I am still undecided at this moment. Making the right choice the forst time can save you bundles of money.

 

I think I am finaly going to go single in my first gen with a gt35 divided with a t4 foot print should be good to up around 430 and still spool good, but If your looking for more than that go biger.

 

Yup.. 7knight was right dont spend 4000$ kit. And six months later spend 3500$ for eng, 1000$ for new turbo.. well there is another 5000$ goes...

 

Well found out the engine was rebuilt and compression is good all the way around. I have also decided on a turbo. I went with DaVinci Motorsports AF61. I am going to be piecing together the kit.

When I get the car fully tuned I will post some of my numbers up.

 

See…..just like my engine i got, what did the compression look like? Is it even throughout the chambers?


How did you determine that it was definitely rebuilt?

 

Not 100% sure but pretty darn sure. I will only know if I rip it apart. But there are tell tale signs. The front pulley bolt has a yellow mark on it along with a yellow marking on the front housing and of course one hell of a lot of RVT on the oil pan.

Either way I am going to get it compression tested at a local shop. That is if I can ever get that front pulley bolt off and the tranny seperated from the engine. I might just rip it apart for the hell of it.

Once the tranny gets seperated I will take the engine to a local tire shop and have them try at the bolt. I had a 450ft/lb with a 120psi compressor gun but that was just not cutting it.

Holy smokes, this thread is really old. Yes, there has been a lot of progress in the last few months. The car should be ready in about a month or so. I decided on the af61.

I will let the pictuers do the rest of the talking.
