Rewiring fuel pump - FD

I figured this may be the best section to post this in given that most of the people that have done it are probably in here.

I've got an RP fuel pump in the car now and it works just fine, but I want to run some 8GA wire from the battery to power it instead of my trusty 11 year old wires in there now. From studying the wiring diagram and reading the writeup on 1300cc.com it looks pretty straightforward.

Battery+ ------ 20AMP fuse ------- automotive relay ----- pump

Would I take the signal to open the relay from the circuit opening relay then? This looks like it would power the pump on and prime the system before starting the car as soon as I turn the key to 'ON'. I plan on eliminating the fuel pump resistor as it just complicates things, though I suppose it would be easy to wire in to match the diagram with the new relay if I moved it to the back as well. I am just thinking outloud in case someone here has done this and can give any advice. TIA.

Take the signal for your relay from the white/red wire (power wire) in the rear hatch that supplies the pump now. It will still prime the system before starting. Idle fuel pressure will rise a few psi with full battery voltage to the pump.
