Quick exchange turbo system

I've been researching what kind of turbo would be great at (not just good) 3 different types of racing. What I'd like to be able to run in is 1/4 mile drags, autox and hillclimbs. As we all know, there is no turbo that is efficient at all rpms.

What I was thinking of doing is having an exhaust manifold built with a vband end where I could mount either a T-76, GT30 or a T04e ( or whatever vband turbo I decide on) and just have different intercooler piping and a "vband extension" to connect to the downpipe. I'd also like to be able to exchange turbo's within an hour.

Has anyone ever thought of creating or already has created a quick release turbo system like this?

realistically, the only way that would work would be if you had 3 turbos that all had essentially the same housings and just a different wheel. and then you would need to swap your maps.

You could do a T04S/60-1 (or ball bearing equivalent), a T67/T04R/T04Z, and a T70. If all three had say a 1.00 divided P trim hotside, a .70 A/R 4" inlet compressor cover, and all had the same style of oil cooled or water cooled CHRA you could do it. You would have to make sure everything is clocked, measured, and mocked up perfectly though. As you mentioned you could also use the Tial hotsides which use Vbands. But now you are getting really expensive... if you kept with a basic T4 footprint to control cost (using an off-the-shelf manifold like an HKS) you should still be able to swap turbos quickly and reuse the inlet gasket.

What you would end up having is essentially 3 turbos whose only major difference is the compressor wheel size.

the first question is which of those three is going to be the main one? which is most important to you.

don't forgot oil lines
and downpipe as well...

IC pipe shouldn't be too hard..
especially if you weld the elbow right on to the turbo housing..
that way it's a "straight shot" for all 3 turbos to your IC hotside

The problem would lie in that if you have 3 different turbos with 3 different goals, you would want the housing size to change with application. For your AutoX, you wouldn't necessarily want a 1.00 divided exhaust and 0.70 A/R compressor cover on a T04E. I'm not even sure that T04S compressor cover would work with it.

You'd be better off going with one broad application turbo with a good wide map on it, something like A-Spec's 500R which gives spool similar to a GT35R, but with the capability to flow over 75 lbs/min. The T04Z is another option, although I don't really know what its spool characteristics are like, especially for AutoX, but it again can make over 500whp for drag.
