Question about GT35R Kits

Im having a tough time deciding on what to do..I removed my stock turbo's, blocked off the emmisions, bought a microtech lt-8, and fixed some other items...

Im looking into getting a single turbo perferably a gt35r since i've read about them and they seem to be great for the 13b

I do have a mild streetport....is the rx7store's GT35 kit great? Anyone have any word on it..or better yet have the kit themselves?...also which is better? the T4 or T3...i would think the t4 would be..but the t3 is worth more?

Thanks for the input guys.

Might want to try under the single turbo section. You might get a quicker reply.

No problem. I haven't had any personal experience with them, but what are you looking for in your setup would be one of the first questions.

Look into A-spec tuning for a 35r kit...Rx7store.net only sells the t4 divided turbine in a .84, i also believe which would only be good for a really responsive car. Aspec has a selection of setups when it comes to the 35r kit..I think you should go with the aspec 35r with a 1.0 divided turbine housing. Good power, great response and a great power band.

^ I spent a few hours with Garrett tech support and could answer some questions as I will not post what I found out.

But before anyone can answer your question better, you need a better question. What is the purpose of your setup (street, street/highway, autox, club/open track, drag, etc). How much boost do you plan to run? Short runner or long runner manifold? T4 requires equal length devided runners and not modified T3 manifold with T4 flange. You can get a T3 decided GT35R now but T4 is bigger. Since you got rid of emissions you can then get a long runner manifold and go with T4.

Call up A-spec and discuss your goals with them.

And ditch the Microtech and get a real ecu....

Ok haha....i've heard super duper things about Microtech..now im hearing other words...dam.
I have to rely on mostly what people are saying due to me being one of 4 FD's in my city. The other FD owners are pretty much stock...not messing with their cars.

Can some one pm/reply on here what are the major differences of the two engine managements are...so i can correct myself into buying a great management system.

ANYWAYS..

What is the purpose of your setup: street/highway.
How much boost do you plan to run?: 14psi roughly.
Short runner or long runner manifold? What are the diffrences? Spool time im assuming?

You've only heard super things about the Microtech from clueless people....the Microtech uses a 16x16 map, which is pretty inadequate for boosted cars....the PFC uses 20x20 map, which is just acceptable. The PFC+datalogit also gives you more flexibility and control and MUCH easier installation.

Long runner will yeild more power but short runner gives you more clearance for the air filter and the "possibility" of retaining an air pump. Then there is T3, T3 devided, T4, T4 devided (power wise in that order). Devided is better flow, T4 is larger then T3.

Street/AutoX go with .84 A/R T3 (devided if possible) and should still work for spirited highway but if you can open it up alot where you live then maybe the 1.06 T4.

You also have to consider fuel:
With the .84 T3 you should be able to just upgrage the secondarys to 1300's, Walbro fuel pump use a small FPR.
for the 1.06 T4 you will want at least 850/1300's, med/large FPR and a Apexi GTR pump (maybe Walbro with direct current or boost-a-pump).

Great info, im learning quite a bit.
GoRacer..would you even recommend your turbo set-up??

I also forgot to mention another reason i chose the Microtech was due to the tuners in my area..there are not many who tune with the PFC.
Would it be wise to uninstall the Microtech (its already wired in.) And get a PFC w/ Commander? (where can i find this? on-line site?)

Thanks,
Geby

My setup is fine if you do "not" AutoX, otherwise you would have to change gears or go with a smaller turbine snail. It can be done as prove by my instructor but it's not as much fun boost is kicking in at the end of the very short strait. It is very streetable and would keep out of or in low boost from light to light with "normal" driving.

It sounds like you would need a new wire harness to use a PFC. If there is no local Apexi tuner, you don't have much of a choice. You also say you don't have other local modified FD owners to ask how their tunes went. You may have to trailer your car for a good Apexi tune.
