putting in a used turbo
putting in a used turbo
Hey, im wondering what all need to be done when installing a used turbo
i would assume clean it up really good
ive also been told to tip it vertical
and pour oil in the inlet of the turbo while spinning the fins till oil comes out the exhaust side..
anything else i need to do before i put it on?

Check shaft play...
I think pouring oil in the turbo is going to make installation messy - don't bother.
If you're paranoid, just crank the engine over for a few seconds and watch the oil pressure start to rise a little.
Pull fuses to prevent the engine from starting.

Thats a killer turbo Gregs i was drooling all over it when Gamble had it. But i am also curious about what steps can be taken before installing a turbo to ensure its correct and safe function.
