Primary Injectors Upgrade Question

Is it safe to upgrade your primary injectors while leaving the stock secondaries in tact? Example: The ECU would be a PFC, upgraded fuel pump and FPR, the primary rail would be a top feed with 1000cc injectors and 850 secondary.
I'm looking for about 375 whp, single w/ all the supporting mods.
Has this been done safely?

i would prefer replacing the sec because you would need more fuel top end wise, and by leaving the stock primaries would have a better idle. and for the 375 you requested i would suggest 1300cc secondaries and you wont need to change the fuel rails with the 1300cc either. allthough there is many fds that have other setups like 4 x 850 cc pri & sec but it depends what setuo you prefer.

Either leave your 550s at the primary location and change 2ndary to 1300 or 1600s of course u need a fuel rail for the 1600s. Or throw in 850 primary and 1300/1600 2ndary... You'll have plenty of fuel for 375whp.

uhm i have a question... in a piston engine that amount of CC's (850pri and 1300sec) is roughly good to bout 700hp.... is there much of a difference in a rotory? or am i missing something?

we usually run more fuel in our rotaries then required in piston motors.

1000 cc/min primary injectors on a setup of only 375 rwhp would be ummm not good. It would WORK, but in my opinion, not well.

The problem is that at 750-1000 rpm idle speed, the amount of fuel flow required is TINY... a big ol' 1000 cc/min injector is going to have a hard time accurately squeezing out such a small little speck of fuel. As a result, getting a smooth idle might be difficult.

If you want to save money, start out with either a 4 x 850 setup, OR go to a 550 and 1200 (or 1300) secondary set.

If you want to it "right" (in my opinion of course)... just bite the bullet and go with 550 primaries and 1600 secondaries. Yeah, it's more work and money, but in the end, your fuel system will support it when you want to go to 400-450 rwhp.

Yep, I've decided to go with something like the Extreme Fuel system at the Rx7store. Thanks for your expertise everyone. Hmmm...only if someone would offer me a killer deal on something like that.
