Please help.
Hi mates,
I've recently converted my 3rd gen to single turbo and now its suffering from post surgery complications.
The problem with my car right now is that its hard to start, and when it does, the idle is really bad. It would idle at 600-750
range, but it is set at 900 via PFC. The idle was rough, like its running on one rotor. Later, I discover that my leading coil wasn't firing. I've replace the coil, the spark plug wires, and the plugs.
Crossing my finger, I started my car and it idle alittle better but still the roughness persist. This is really fustrating the hell out me.
When I removed the the spark plugs for inspection. Some of the plugs were wet, like the thing never fire. It feels like the car is running on a single rotor.
What else can it be? I'm about ready to take a sleghammer to this car.
Thanks, Jay

What did you change? Injectors?
Did you play with the PFC at all?
I would start with checking for spark at both leading and trailing plugs.
Then I would check to see if you have compression at all three chambers of each rotor.
Then I would check to see if you are getting fuel.
Sorry I don't have any advice other than to start with the basics...

I had a similar problem when I went single. I changed the primary injectors to 850's but did not have them sealed properly and they were dumping fuel and fouling my plugs.
As Chuck said, what else did you do?

The changes to my car were RC 1300cc injector, clean my stock primarys, removed all smog related items, and clean out the rat's nest.
When I had my injectors done, RC gave me all new replacement o-rings. As you know, Mazda wants $10.00 a pop for each o-ring. Ouch.
When the car does run, it idles very rough like its running just 1/2 a motor. You can definely smell some raw fuel. After many trial and error dianostics. I found out that my leading coil was dead.
I replace it, it still ran the same.
