Yeah what is the size of that KKK, When I called Shaneracing they said it was "top Secret". Shane told me that they outfit their turbos, and have no idea what the specs are... whatever. that compressor housing looks bigger than my KKK-27. Good work though!, that looks really nice! I just got mine polished too, it certainly does make a difference.

Thanks guys....
I really don't know the spec's either. Its the stage 2, whatever that means... Ray said it was a tad bigger than the T78. The main reason I got it was he says I can make 500 rwhp fairly easily and it does spool fast......full boost by 3800rpms. Plus, I didn't want to be like everyone else......course if ya know me, Im not....lol...

I was going to go with the KKK stage 2 kit, however, I don't know anyone that can tune the car for me. I guess I have to be like everyone else and get a T-78, so nothing goes wrong...I hope.

I suppose so, but I don't have the Power FC I have the Haltech. The Power Fc limited me too much. I plan on running at least 20lbs of boost at the track. Doing that on the Power FC is a big pain. Plus tuning the Power FC is another pain unless you live in CA. KDR blew two of my motors with it, due to timing issue's. I beleive he has worked those issue's out.......still doesn't help me. Much better support running the Haltech and single turbo.

I'm going the same setup as you are(Haltech/KKK) so I hope I don't offend you. I still haven't decided between Stage 1 or 2 but not much money seperates the two setups so it's probably gonna be 2. I'm gonna get Dave to install mine but will need tuning. If you setup shop soon I will definately give you a call.

If your going Haltech and your getting Dave to do the install, get him to tune it too. He CAN tune the Haltech well. My problem was I left his shop with sombody's else's map and not tuned for my own setup......not to mention I had the wrong wastegate spring in. Lets just say I've had to worst luck EVER for a FD owner. And hope all is behind me now.
My first race should be the ImStar race @ MIR April 21st. I'll be running 20lbs of boost. By the end of summer I'll hope to be running 20lbs plus a 50-75 shot. Should be interesting seeing the faces on the Supra owners as I blow right by em...

I'm going up to Dave's on the 11th. Boost issues and BOV relocated. Really tired of having to deal with hoses blowing off hence the reason why I'm going single turbo. I saw your car at Dave's the last time I was there. Pretty sweet car. Loved the carbon fiber interior.

Ernie, looks good. I am either going with the T-78 with a TEC III or KKK stage 2 and the AEM (if it ever comes out). Ernie, You should be able to run a lot more boost than 20 lbs on race fuel..(23-25) and with spray even more as it cools the charge..

What exactly is "full boost"? 10, 12, 15, 20....??

I just installed my 60-1 and get 10 psi by 2800 rpms in 5th gear. I can't wait to pull out my silencers and see if the spoolup increases any. It's kind of hard to see exactly where full boost is in lower gears because it builds so fast and it's hard to look at the boost gauge and tach at the same time.

Hey guys,
The KKK turbo that Ray sells is actually a Holset turbo that is used on many freightliners and peterbuilts. I used this turbo for about six months early last year. I had asked Ray about which KKK it was and he said the same thing to me "top secret". I was at a friends shop in Merriam, KS called Pro-Diesel that does turbo and fuel injection work for tractor trailers and heavy equipment and just happened to bring the turbo in to show him. He looked at it for a moment with surprise and then said "I'll be right back and disappeared into the back room. A moment later he came back with a turbo that except for a slightly smaller turbine was the same as I was holding. Well, I called Ray and asked him about it and he said then that he doesn't make the turbos but that they are made and then sent to him. He then said that the housings might be Holset but he's almost sure the CHRA was KKK. I was like "Riigght, sure thing". The number on the turbine housing which you can only read a small part of is also a Holset part number.

I harbor no ill will towards Ray and I have spent a large amount of money on his products and as far as other vendors go he is in the top 30%. I just get tired of seeing it called a KKK and wished he would call it what it really is.

Later,
Ben

ErnieT, are you running 20lb's on pump gas? Does the haltech allow you to run higher boost than the pfc on pump gas? I have XS T04S and I'm afraid to turn it higher than 14 psi with the PFC. Its pretty powerful now, but i'd love to run at least 18 psi on pump.
