Picked up r2 w/t66...Questions!

So I got the 94' r2. It supposedly has a street port, additional (2) 850's on a Greddy elbow (not hooked up) and plug for a pressure switch on the IC piping before the elbow, stock 550's and 850's, rfp?, HKS Racegate, dp, mp, NPR Horizontal mount IC (jury's out on this one), and a t-66 with .81 a/r (supposedly). BEST ONE...STOCK ECU!!!

I bought the car for $8,300 (cash is king). I felt that the engine may need work. Was I right?? It runs ok, but even though showing 9 psi boost, the car seems like the turbo isn't kicking in at all. My R1 w/ seq. stock turbos will smoke this car.

If I am showing 9psi and the car is running like it has no boost, is the engine gone or could something else be happening (i.e. air leak, etc.). I am taking it for comp. test next week.

Ideas?

CLR racing in miami built a FD a few years ago that ran 10.60's with a T66 and stock ecu. the car used pressure switches to activate the additional 1000 cc injectors welded into the manifold. he added resistors to the engine harness to eliminate factory fuel cut.

it was not a very reliable system, but it made 540+rwhp and ran mid tens all day.
my friend bought that car and has since instaled a microtech system in it.

Yeah, I don't think the two 850's in the elbow will be for me. I will use my PFC and install 1600 secondaries instead.

Still no answers as to why the car shows boost, but runs like no boost.....other than possible leaking seals/tired motor. Anyone???

do you know where the boost measurement is taken from? You could have a boost leak downstream of the sensor...

Are clogged catalytic conv. a problem very often with any of you guys? Wouldn't that create a huge restriction? I don't have any cats and haven't since day one on any of my cars so i wouldn't know.

But if that were the case it wouldn't even show boost would it?

Sorry.....just thinking out loud

NO cats. The elbow injectors are not wired or supplied with fuel. I will check for leaks, but I think the motor is gone.

We will see tomorrow.
