Pardon my ignorance, turbo comparison and selection?
I've spent some time scouring the boards and internet trying to answer my questions and only seem to have more questions now. So, my current turbo set p which is a t70 .96 rear has a lot of shaft play. I've rebuilt it a couple of times and just looking to replace it. Now, I've been looking at the BW turbos due to pricing and power. I have an s4 t2 motor with a big street port, good fuel system, lt10, and just looking to upgrade. I looked at the BW S400sx-75 1.10ar with .83 wheel T4 and the S300-66 ETT 1.00 at .73 wheel T4. The car is mostly a street car but would like to see the dragstrip from time to time. What is the differences in these turbos on the rx7? I am really looking to get the best bang for my buck but I really want the power to be there. Thanks and pardon my ignorance on turbos. If there are any other factors for a decision I didn't put in there, please let me know so I can answer them. Thank you in advance

Go with the newer S362 SXE.
It will spool well before 3500 RPM and make enough power to crack your rear iron.
Or go with the older version for less money and slightly more lag and less air flow.

you currently have a Large turbo.
the T70 has a 8.725 average area compressor. pls see my sticky thread "Turbo Comparison" in this section for an explanation.
your T70 can make 85 pounds/air per minute at 37 PSI...
640 SAE rwhp.
if you are not running above 600 the turbo is a misfit sizewise... lag etc.
in order for you to end up w a turbo that fits your setup and objectives i need more than...
"I really want the power to be there"
what power were you making w the T70 and what is your power objective for the new turbo?
BTW, i wish you well w the oncoming hurricane.

You really have a lot of options, the only way to narrow the selection is stating your power goals first, and then defining how important are lag and transient response for your purpose.

Thank you, everyone. Made it through the hurricane, unscathed. I guess the s362sxe 1.0 ar is in my future. I've still got to get the ebc, car rewired and retuned. I'll keep you posted on the progress. Thanks again!

Thanks. The car made 543 rwhp on the t70 setup at about 23-24lbs. I'd be realistically happy to be in the 500's but not at the expense of reliability and longevity. I want to thoroughly enjoy this car, now. I have a few things on my plate, new turbo, ebc, new flywheel and wiring as well as tuning. It'll be back in the shop for that in November. Thanks
as power goes up, longevity generally goes down.

if you shop around you will find the 21st Century cutting edge SXE line priced not much more than a dinner for two V the 20+ year old SX line.
you have eight options
five compressor options and three additional based on turbine wheel sizing
SXE 62 584 rotary rwhp SAE
SXE 63 591
SXE 64 622
SXE 66 659
SXE 69 731
the 62. 63 and 64 offer a 76 or 80 mm hotside. probably go w the 76 for the 62 and 63 and the 80 on the 64.
given your objectives i recommend you consider the SXE 63 with the
76 hotside. PN 13009097006.
w a combo of the 76 hotside and a 52 Trim it should really dig out of a shift as well as come within a whisker of 600. the hotside wheel is 90% of the area of the compressor whereas your T70 is 76%. less backpressure.
of course the engineering in the wheel/cover and bearing design is like comparing two computers, one being 20 years old.
