Finished plumbing my dual pump and parallel system. Got the pulsation dampers from Marren, along with the 1680cc secondaries. Maybe overkill, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

IDK much about 7s yet.. but in my experience with cars in general... it looks a bit overkill

Why you may ask? It's needed for sure. I built my car without the pulsation dampener and found pulsation fluctuations. NOT GOOD! I went with only one marren pulsation dampener before my splitter before the fuel rails. Marren suggests using two. One on each fuel rail.

Also when you go to an aftermarket setup the stock pulsation dampener gets removed so why not put another one back on?

I was under the impression that the FPR had a built in pulsation dampener...... But I seem to be having trouble finding any information that says that....... hmmmm...

I had heard the same thing about aftermarket FPR's. So while I had Marren on the phone to talk about the injectors, I asked about aftermarket FPR's having any dampering. They told me they do not have the chamber to absorb the hydraulic pulsation like a damper does. He even mentioned the RX7 using a factory PD, and I hadn't even told him what kind of car I am working on. If Mazda intended for the fuel system to have them, then I'll spend the extra time and money to do it right the first time. Just my personal opinion. And thanks to all of you that complimented the setup, that was alot of work.

Wow! Nice!

I've got a few questions for you...

1. Any pics of the fuel pump assembly? I'm going to go with dual pumps and am trying to get an idea of how to mount them in there.

2. Are you running the braided line all the way from the pumps to the bay? Or do you have the braided lines just coming out of the fuel pump assembly and then going to the stock hardlines?

3. If you're running the braided lines to the engine bay, are you running a fuel pump to each fuel rail? Or do you T them together to one line, then have them split again in the bay?

So was I. Untill I called marren and talked to them. I believe it made a difference but I have no proof.

Here is the sending unit before install. ( BTW it's a very tight fit ) Pic taken durring mock up. Finished product the new pump does sit straight and level to the other pump.
Got another sending unit from a junkyard car. Cut the bottom half of the fuel pump mount off ( so it would cradle the other pump ) and welded all together with a cross brace.

Yes I'm running braided lines all the way from the pumps to the engine bay. One pump, -6 AN line, and Jegs inline filter for each rail. Went with the black braided line from the sending unit to the filters because it's less expensive than the steel braided line. ( called statoflex hose. you can buy it at any Peterbilt,Freightliner,or other semi truck dealership )

you did cover the ss line so dirt and grime wont get into the braid, right?

also, dont you think the uim will hit those things?

I haven't covered them yet, that's still on the to do list. The car is still in the garage on jackstands. And the UIM clears the dampers with plenty of room. I did lots of measuring and checking of clearance before drilling any holes in the firewall. Sorry for the pic ( it's from my cell phone )

Think you need dampers with a all hose fuel system? I would guess the hoses would take care of any pulsating taking place? They are nice units though! Where did you get them?

Sorry for the stupid question, but what do you cover the steel braided lines with???

Those fittings and line are really expensive.. I spent like $250 on just fittings alone when I did my fuel system and that was only from the fuel filter to the rails, then back to the FPR.

setzep- I did consider that maybe I don't need them because of that, but I wasn't taking any chances doing all this work without them and then going lean on the top end from hydraulic pulsation. The dampers are from Marren.

siguy2k- Yes those fittings and the ss hose is expensive, I've got almost $350 into that Jegs order. Those are stock rails, I just cleaned them up with a soft wire wheel on the bench grinder. I was amazed how clean they came out.

FrankV702- I think he was being sarcastic, at least that's how I took it. Honestly this is the first time I've ever done ss fuel lines. If I'm supposed to cover them, I need to know what to use also.

I have heard that you need to cover them because dirt and stuff will work it's way in there over time. I just wouldn't know what to cover them with.. ??
