I have a weird problem, just got my car running, and Ive got a weird oil leak. It appears to be a very slow leak coming through the turbine side. Im running a racing beat 80 psi oil pressure regulator, 6 AN oil feed line, and a 8 AN(might be 10, I dont remeber) on a brand new Turbonetics 62-1. Is it possible the pressure is forcing the oil past the dynamic seal and then leaking out of the turbo? Theres also alot of smoke coming out of the exhaust, but it is a fresh rebuild and I think Ive got about a 25:1 premix ratio right now.

Also, the turbo came with a brass fitting already in the oil inlet, with a little brass mesh filter looking thing, is it just a filter, or an oil restrictor as well? Will I need to put a restrictor in the feed line? If so, what should I use for one? It seems everyone is running a -4 feed line, so Im not sure what to use.

Yes.

the turbo "whips" the oil onto a froth, therefore it needs a large hole to carry it away fast enough not to back up. you must have at least a 10AN preferable a 12AN (hard to fit, i couldnt) to drain it.

the 6AN feed is also over kill. 3 or 4AN should be fine.

i have a 4AN feed (80psi OP) and 10AN drain. it smoke very slightly. i put an 1/8" restrictor in and the smoking is pretty much gone. the 10AN drain might be paired perfectly with a 3AN feed though.
