I didn't know the OBX was a "copy" of the HKS or even the XS manifold(which I believe is cast not tubular). I'd have to have both of them in my hands to believe they are identical. And since Bacon was having problems fitting a XS to4s on the OBX manifold I wouldn't think that the OBX and XS would be the same. It would probably be cheaper/less hassle just to bolt up your turbo setup and take your car to a shop to have a downpipe made because at least then you know it's going to fit. Why take a chance on buying a downpipe made for another kit when you can make it easy by just having one made and even in 4" if you wanted.

BTW if you're looking to do a t04e setup silver7 has a manifold/downpipe/tial wastegate that I believe he was using a to4e on for sale in the forums parts for sale section.

i'm glad someone is still interested in using the OBX manifold and To4 turbo on a FC

Dan,

you should bring the manifold to a machine shop along with some measurements.

Some ideas that cross my mind are:

1.) cutting the manifold near the flange that will bolt to the engine, then find the exact same type of tubing... 304 stainless? not sure of the inner and outter diameter and have the machinst/welder extend the tubing out say 2 inches.

2.) have the machinst cut the OBX manifold's flange right off with a plasma cutter, then have him machine a new flange maybe 2x or 3x as thick as the original one.

3.) have another flange that looks exactly like the flange that is already on the manifold and have that as a spacer... just make him machine the flange so it is 2xs as thick

looking at the above options... i think number 1 is best if the clearence needs to be a lot... i'm not sure how good it will be to use a really thick flange... the expansion of the thicker flange may be different then the thinner flange and cause craking or warping?

maybe... who knows...

Fc manifolds sit alot further way and lower that the FD manifolds. As the Fd manifold sits a little higher/forward and closer to the engine. You were going to have problems from the get-go because of the FC's lower intake manifold sticking out far. Try putting an FC manifold in a FD as I did and the turbo will hit the frame rail.
