Thumbs up Noob question: diffrent models of aftermarket turbos.. I dont get it!

I did a search, cannot find a comparitive analisis!

Im wondering if anyone can explain the diffrences between the GT35r, T04s, T04r, T88, T66, T51kai etc.... Just the size of turbo (max power) vs drivability (low-end power) is that the main diffrence? Or is longgevity diffrent in these various models, like not needing a rebuild after 10,000km...

thanks,
Jeff

this will help you understand a LOT about turbos, and should clear up some of the sizing info.

if you want good power (350ish) at normal boost levels <17psi go for the 35r. If you want to run some AI and get some real power run the t04z at normal t04z pressures >25psi. the t04z is the ball bearing t04r.
If you want 400ish hp go for a 35r
if you want 500ish+- an aspec 500r, a t04z(with AI) or a ptrim 35r(i think) will get youthere
if you want to go for 500+hp you are going to need something that needs much breath. Consequently much more lag. If you need 6-700hp, look to a 4094 hybrid turbo adn some ai. If you want to be liek all the other fd guys go hbp and a gt42r. I suppose if you are ONLY concerned with highway pulls inwhich you will never go below 4.5k rpm you could look at a gt45. I have not heard of when these spool but the 45,47or 50 might be ok for a PURELY high way car...... these things are goin to have gobs of lag but still produce obscene hp numbers
