I think it is better than stock as it beefed up the weakest links in the system.
I re-wired mine completely. I know that voltage to the fuel pump is very very important.
I still use the stock wiring to turn the relay on, rewired battery to relay/relay to pump.

^^^ I have a relocated battery to the back and when I bought the pigtail it came with an extra lead that I used for this. pretty snazzy. Stock trigger wire but full battery voltage at all times.
