Not sure on the tq. Ray didn't say and since most RX-7s aren't known for making alot of tq, I didn't ask. I'll post the dyno sheets when I get them.

Well congrats!! You went from a bolt on mr2 to a full blown all out RX7 . I like it alot. DO you think you will make 700?

The motor should make 700. But, I definately won't make it at the wheels. I would need a 42R and a clearanced engine to do that.

And thanks for the props. I do miss my MR2 though. I'm sure I'll end up getting another one after a while.

Dee,

Great meeting you this afternoon. Wish I could've made it a little earlier to watch the pulls. Anyway, hope you had a blast on your ride back home...I sure did.

Yes, High boost was only 23psi. When the dust cleared, the final number was:

604rwhp and 471rwtq

His ET numbers will depend on if he sets his suspension up form drag. Hp wise, he should easily be good for +130 trap range maybe even higher.

Well, so far only the motor is setup to make good HP. My suspension/trans./diff. is 67,000 miles on stock everything. I have alot more work to do before some good track times come out of my setup. Sorry guys. I may take it to the track, just do I can see how hilarious it would be.

great numbers for a 40R. I'll eventually be running a similar setup, and anything close to those numbers would be bitchin.

congrats but te numbers need some clarification and comment so people can understand what is going on

Your car ran 27.88psi and droped to 23 odd psi at maximum power?

Now I from personal experience after 30 dyno runs on a friends car can tell EVERYONE this fact.

IF your car is set to make the boost at power peak all the way through the revs prior to that point OR it ramps up to that peak power boost point you will never make the same power as you did with a mid range higher boost setting

We made 578rwhp on 21.5psi mid range boost curve with 18 psi at maximum power, and you can NEVER get anywhere near that when ramping up to 18 or even 20 psi at peak revs if you dont have the big push in mid range revs, your power will ALWAYS be alot lower. its the boost urge that lags behind a few hundred RPM that makes a big difference to the peak figure regardless if you hit the same peak boost at the measured maximum.

So for a full bridge port running 27+psi droping to 23psi and making 600rwhp on a dynojet on C16 its nothing miraculous at all in summary, by comparison my friend makes 578rwhp on a dyno dynamics runing 21psi droping down to 18psi on a half bridge with pump fuel and water injection...... I'll go dig up the power graph so you can compare

^ that has nothing to do with it at all nor my post

its a thing I the owner and the dyno operator learned over many different dyno sessions and runs that the mid range boost (and not the boost at peak power) has a large bearing on the peak power figure for obvious reasons.

i personaly made the mistake of *claiming* only running boost at peak rpm making it sound better than what actualy is happening and when you test it as i described and posted in the sheet you will see that if the boost stayed flat at 23psi or ramped up to it or whatever you would not get anywhere near that power nor the power band preceeding it

again, no bandwagons here just pointing out facts and how they effect results
27.88psi in mid range is alot of boost as is 23.55psi for those power levels on a full bridge port car running racing fuel. either way 604rwhp is not easy hence my congrats Bit to put it all into perspective I still have the old dyno sheet from the A&L rx7 running 19.1psi and making 550rwhp on a street port traping 135mph (10.14sec with stock FD gearbox) and that was around 10 years ago too....... having a grasp on history is indeed priceless

That's fine by me, and nice to know those facts RICE RACING. It don't matter too much to me though. I'm just happy the car did 600+rwhp. I know that the reason the powerband looks good is because of the higher boost in the lower rpms. I'm happy with the power and I'll be happy running 10s, if I can do it.

I have 2 dyno runs(one at 600 and the other at 604) that I'll be getting on youtube.com soon. I just have to buy a cable in order to upload them to my computer.

Thanks everyone for the support.
