500r (Only ASpec sells them).
35r (1.06 t4 divided again, only ASpec sells them however Rx7store.net also, but not the 1.06)

These 2 are on my top list for quick spool =D

The first are way to small and the last is to big for your needs. Go with a GT35R.

if 400rwhp is all you need, then a GT35R on a street port, with a v-mount intercooler should give you amazing response.

Couple quick comments:

1) Do a search - these topics are discussed every week

2) 4x850 probably isn't going to make 400 rwhp if that is really your minimum goal. If you really want a minimum of 400, I'd go 2x850 + 2x1600

3) You said you want "min 400 rwhp" and "fast spool at low end". Even at 400 rwhp (the lowest you are shooting for), it starts to get hard to have a fast spool at low end. I would suggest that if your goal is really a low-rpm corner-shooter car, you'd be better off going for a 350 rwhp target and using a slightly smaller turbo. Maybe 400 rwhp at a max. I can make full boost (15 psi) by 3500 rpm, but only if I lug the engine from about 2000 in 4th. If I use the lower gears like second, the RPM outpaces the boost, so I don't get ful boost until more like 3750-4000.

4) I don't know where you got that list of turbos - but don't use any of those.

5) Do you have a ported engine? Good porting will help spool up a slightly bigger turbo - but stock ports mean you should keep on the slightly smaller side to keep your spoolup where you want.

Wargasm.... i was saying that i was going to do 4x850cc with stock twins but i changed my mind when i got to rats nest vacuum lines mad it really hard to get to injectors ...

i got injectors and fuel rails i just don feel like punting it back in and next year taking it back out to do a single...

but thanks for the other stuff that helps

and yes i am going with # 1600cc injectors x2 (Secondary)
# 850cc Injectors x2 (Primary) from rx7 store for the single turbo

engine got 3mm apex seals and about 20k on it

i will do Bridge Port on next rebuild

i had allot of people tell me gt35r but i disliked them from the beginning because i beat on with stock twins at 15-16.2psi around 340wrhp and he was pushing 430....by the time he got boost i was long gone that's y i am looking at smaller turbos i am OK with 400 max as long as i get good response ....i just don't wanna see all them vacuum lines any more

i might end up with gt35r just because they are really affordable kit

looking for something that would show some kinda boost around 3000rpm

that where i got the turbos from
gt28 comes with like 18 options
gt28r GT2876R - 705330- 2 Horsepower 280-480
i did see one rx7 making 480 wit this turbo

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...R_705330_2.htm

gt30 comes with like 4 options
gt30r GT3076R - 700382-12 Horsepower 310 - 525

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob..._700382_12.htm

i know search...but their is nothing about single gt30 or gt28 that i could find

that's y i am asking

GT30 and below is TOO SMALL, just forget about it. A GT35R spools FAST. Your going to be happy with it. If you were beating your friend, its because something with his setup wasn't right or he didn't know how to drive.

I can PROMISE you that a GT35R is going to be plenty fast for you as far as spooling.

but if you are really so picky about having an extremely flat torque curve, then why dont you build either a custom compound turbo setup, or a true twin turbo setup, both setup for around 400rwhp. Either one of those systems will yeild AMAZING response.

I would like to see the RX7 that made 480whp on a 2876R for starters.

If you beat a 35R car with your twins while making 90whp less, I'd say there was a issue with either car or driver as stated.

I wouldn't run smaller than a 60mm compressor or a 60mm turbine. That's just me though.

Where in NY are you? I'm also going the single route right now. My rebuilt twins leak fluids and I never even got to boost them.

Oh, the guy I got my FD from lived out there. He sold it through some guy Enzo in Buffalo, they actually ripped me off and lied about the car and it's condition when I called from Iraq. Oh well, now I'm just looking for some kind of quick solution to getting my car back together and on the road.

what color was the car

MAN IF U ONLY GOT BAD TWINS and that's the only problem .....and all your solenoids are working stay with twins u can make like 350hp on them and that plenty for the street u cant beet the response

and with the cats out down pip mid pip they spool up even faster

i got perfectly good working twins i would let them go for $$ 600shipped they got less then 10k on them
and i got 4x850cc rails and injectors 380$$shipped
SARD fuel pressure regulator and rail adapters $$180
and power fc by RX7.com
it comes tuned for twins
4x850cc
down pipe mid pipe
at 16.2psi
fuel 42psi
i never used it still as it came in the box 1200$$ shipped

i think with this setup you wold get at list 340-350RWHP

but if u are going with the single turbo... i am learning as i go... i can help u only to as far as i got now if u looking to start tearing stuff down

i managed 429whp@15psi with a pt67 turbo with 0.81 hotside. Nothing is as responsive as the stock twins. I manged to get 351@15psi with them. Then i converted them to non seq and got 365whp@17psi but they were smoiking bad.

I managed this with 850cc x4 with a rewired supra pump.

I got more than enough fuel. I'm running 550prim 1600sec but also have 4 850's
and a modded prim rail. I just want something to get me through the next couple years
while I get through nursing school. If I get the GT4088 or GT35R from RX7 store
before next weekend I'd be happy. I just don't want to take a chance on something that's
not brand new again. I built the car up and took a chance on some rebuilt twins and it bit me in the ***.

yea that's what usually happens

i am going with gt35r from rx7store should spool up fast
they say 400 rwhp at 17psi on pump gas

eventually i wanna go on e85

gt40r think is to big and will lag in city driving much more

if its your every day car and u not going to drag it i would go smaller turbo

i wanna good cornering car is more fun then just speeding in straight line
that y i am going with smaller turbo faster spool better response

Are you running a T3 or T4 manifold? If you have a divided T4, the 35R with a 1.06 divided is the way to go.
