Need Help. Clock Turbo 180 Degrees
Has anyone ever clocked a BNR Hybrid turbo (or stock tubo, same positioning) 180 degrees downward? BTW it's on a 87 TII.
The reason I ask is because I ordered the Greddy rspec intercooler kit thinking I could use it and just clock my turbo down, but now it looks like there are clearance issues due to stock oil line and manifold locations.
thanks
Ed

You clock the compressor housing ONLY, not the whole turbo. Your turbine (hot side) and compressor housings can be clocked independantly from one another and from the center section. Your center section should ALWAYS be as close to level as possible. To re-clock your compressor, simply loosen the bolts on the back plate and rotate the housing. Sometimes a small tap with a mallet will be needed to break it loose. No need to remove the bolts, just back them out so theres roughly a 1/8" gap, then tap the housing so it will rotate, then retighten. GOOD LUCK.

Thank for the advice I know your trying to help but
I know how to do it and that only the housing rotates I have done it with the turbo off the car. The problem is it looks like there is stuff (oil line and manifold) in the way of the outlet. Basically it wont clock because it will hit things.
Thats why I need someone who has tried it.
thanks

I can't seem to visualise things being in the way, but its been a while since I've had anything remotly stock. You can however, pull the entire front housing off and put it back on re-clocked so that its missing whatever components are in the way. I'm assuming you mean theres things in the way so you cannot turn it while still mounted to the turbo. Hopefully someone with direct experiance will chime in for you. side note, if you do pull the comp cover off, becarefull not to damage the compressor wheel. Pull the comp cover off straight.
