My PFSupercars build
Just seeing if you guys like my new custom build from Ray Wilson. He has never done a build like this before, and it turned out very well. I've never been happier.
We expect big numbers from this build. Engine has a Full Bridgeport, dowel pinned, 2pc eshaft, rotors clearanced and balanced, 2mm seals, new housings, new rotors, and some other stuff I forgot. http://i27.tinypic.com/4rq29v.jpg http://i30.tinypic.com/r8uk45.jpg http://i28.tinypic.com/10qc3eo.jpg http://i25.tinypic.com/m8d7bc.jpg http://i26.tinypic.com/rh0tj5.jpg http://i29.tinypic.com/2meztp4.jpg http://i30.tinypic.com/1zowwuo.jpg http://i25.tinypic.com/295aias.jpg http://i32.tinypic.com/5caq14.jpg http://i26.tinypic.com/23jn5a8.jpg |

niiiiiice. love the plate :icon_tup:

Nice!

numbers?
|
Just has a minor tune until I'm done breaking in motor. I'm running a 15lb wastegate spring, we're hoping around 530 on pump with methanol.

What intercooler core was that? Anthony |
I'd definitely think about getting some heat sleeving for that heater hose, the one that runs alongside the dp and underneath the compressor housing. Summit has Thermo-tec thermosleeving that's supposed to be good to 2000 degrees, in the 5/8th to 1 inch size it slides right over with no problems.

Thanks for makin things easier anthony haha it took forever to upload those pics cause I don't know how to just put them in thread like that. But if you look at the intercooler setup and radiator setup, you can see that the FMIC is in the engine bay instead of directly in the bumper area cause the intercooler is pretty big. It's a 4inch core. Ray said he never did a intercooler/radiator setup like this before. I wasn't stealing his setup or anything I guess we had similar plans power wise. After the motor is broken in i'm goin 42R. But yea goodfella, I was going to have everything wrapped and get a filter for the turbo shortly, just ran out of money after this build =\

No problem. Did you buy that intercooler yourself? Do you know what intercooler core that is? It looks like one of those universal ones that I see a lot. If it is I am curious to see how much power they handle without issues. It kinda looks like this one...

Very nice, thanks! Keep us posted. Good luck with everything.
Anthony |
Anthony, I noticed the same thing with that intercooler. What makes it stick out is the mounting bungs that they put on it.
rotorsownu do you remember the seller you got it from? |
No sadly I don't. I only payed like $650 for it. Wasn't off ebay.
|
When are you getting numbers? Car looks really nice! I'm normally not a fan of the C-West side skirts but the front fenders accent them...
|
Where in VA are you located?

Why do you want a second wastegate?
|
Did Ray tell you that thet turbo will support your goal of 700-750 ?
|
nice setup. i've been a fan of Ray's work for several months now. i'm sure making power won't be an issue given some of the cars he's built. i have 2 questions. first, i'm just curious which apex seals went into your motor. and second, what coating is that on your upper intake?
enjoy your car. |
I have a question what turbo (exhaust A/R) and what exhaust manifold?
|
Goodfella, I have to run a 2nd wastegate to get rid of boost spike. Marcel, i'm only running this turbo for a little while get used to 550, then i'm gonna switch to a 42R, and thats when i'll be runnin 700-750. Fishey, it's a Garret T04R, with a 1.15 a/r. I purchased this kit from cheapturbo.com aka peakboost. It's a very nice peice.

Can you take a picture of your end tanks and measure the CORE length of your intercooler? Any new news?

Cars now at PFS to get the tune. Turns out I had a bad leading coil that was causing the boost spike, so we'll see sometime this week with numbers
|
intercooler
1 Attachment(s)
i have that intercooler. i think mine says xso2 or o2xs. or something like that. but its like the exact same thing. not sure about the outside dimensions, but it is 4 inches thick. i bought it new from someone on the forum for 200.
|
Nice build man. Let us know how it turns out.
Dee E. |
Thanks man
|
Nice!
|
very nice man cant wait to see some numbers. how much does he charge for dyno time?
|
Labor rate: $85.00/hr
Dyno tuning: $150.00/hr |
Now I have a low compression motor at almost 1k miles, Rays gotta pull it out again. 12k lost =(. another 12k motor with either a 42R on 45R now
|
wow, that sucks. Who did the last build? Did you have nay issues before?
|
Ray at PFS did. IT was my fault, i didn't put enough premix oil in the gas when i filled it up.
|
what? what?
1st of all with 1 thousand miles on the motor there is very VERY little that needs to be replaced. Almost everything should be within spec to be reused. The only thing that I would recommed replacing are the part/ seal that failed..plus new springs and a gasketset It could be a sideseal/cornerseal/apex seal that got stuck.. I doubt it could be a collapsed spring.... 1) gasket set----use a FC N/A gasket set $150 2)buy all new springs (side seal, corner seal, apex seal springs 3)if it is a stuck seal then , you can file the rotor back to within spec if its dented, replace rotor 4) Don't know what apex seal you used but some apes seal tend to break the tips off while other crack in the middle but magically stay in the groove.. replace apex seal 5)close motor and go= wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy less then 12K |

Yeah, but i'm going a diff route...it's a complete bridgeported race everything motor. Onlt thing changing in my motor is ray putting race seals in it instead of 2mm. I'm goin custom 4inch exhaust, custom either 42R, or 45R, gonna need to run 6 injectors shooting for 800+ new ECU, built tranny and a few other things.
|
Lol who's that? time to smoke bikes on a daily bases. And I'm to addicted to this car to sell it, so I guess all I can do is eat my loss.

lol, wasn't jocking anybodys goals. happen to have some what the same goal I guess. this was my plan a while back, but wanted to get used to 600 first, I didn't even have that chance just jumping straight from 500 to 850 depending on what turbo I choose,

Nice to see a blown motor doesn't get you down :bigthumb:
|
haha I know right. I just looked at is as if "Damn I had to go back in the motor sooner or later again to make it stronger, better now than later to handle my new goals."
|
Sounds awesome cant wait to see some #'s. When will the new one be built?

Well, change of plans, I ran into a bad car situation. I sold both of my cars, now only car I have now is the FD until I buy a new car, so i'm not going with the eshaft, so I should have car back in 3 weeks max. Still should be hitting somewhere in 700's.
|
Nice!!!
|
Thanks, I changed my mind with the 42R, I'm going with a borg warner turbo thats a bit bigger than the 42R
