ok, i'll keep that in mind.

As far as the aluminum welds go, do you think i should re-make the fittings? It was a first attempt, and so far, i am only really pleased with the way it looks visually.

It looks pretty solid. I was just throwing out ideas in case you want to make another version down the road. What you have will work. I think you should finish up your project with what you have done. You have a lot of other things to worry about.

When its all done and you get to the testing you might want to data log the oil pressure during whatever type of driving your going to do.

do you think i should go with individual oil pressure sensors for each of the scavenge pumps?

you've done quite an impressive job with this project so far. love the fact that YOU do the work yourself in terms of design and machining things. however, if i had to choose a part to drool over it would be the oil pan/plate. i can't wait to see the intake manifold.

good luck and keep up the awesome work.

It doesn't matter if the scavenge lines run dry for a little bit. What you should worry about is the oil tank running out of reserve oil for the pressure pump. No pressure = spun bearings. I'd figure out a way to log a pressure sensor tapped into the pressure line just before the engine.

ok, so all i have to do is make sure my oil tank is big enough that its not possible for the system to run dry? I mean, in theory, if there isn't enough space for the oil to go, then it'll never run dry.

Just a small note I think might make a difference. Does oil decrease in volume when it heats up?

seems like common logic would explain that it increases.. but hell, mabey it plays the same game as water and ice.

Looks good Chaotic. You are really thinking outside the box. I wish you the best of luck and hope everything turns out well for you!

ziig 08-13-09 07:54 AM

oil increases in volume over temp rise...hence checking oil in trans or engine is always done at OP temps....
And oil tends to overflow a dip stick when hot if overfull,,,,,,,,,
this is due tp the wax crystaline structure of oil as it cools and heats up..of course that also is related to viscosity (wax crystals) but is alos directly related to voulume as well

what do you think is a good size for a dry sump tank?

Those fenders look an awful lot like what I designed for my vert. Should I get a set made up for you ;)

unfortunatly this isn't going to progress too much for a little bit, due to my inability to find a good paying job.

Slevin_FD 09-02-09 04:28 PM

I heard that. Fortunately I'm moving to Jax fairly soon. if I can find a nice place that's good and inexpensive. A job would be nice too.

Jose93RX7 09-02-09 10:27 PM

that's a huge turbo! good luck with this project!
hey pm me a price for that hx35...and specs/pictures...

thanks....

Trjackson 09-07-09 02:41 AM

Check out Delslow's build, he had the same turbo I do beleive on his p-port. Might help with your build. Looks great thus far, good luck!
