NJ Looking to drive a GT35R FD

I'm really considering going the single route and have searched as much as I can here for info, but would really like a hands on experience first before I take the plunge. Is there anyone in the NJ area who has a GT35R(preferably the smaller T3/.82 hotside or closer) that would allow me to drive theirs? Rest assured, Im not looking for a joyride, but want to see where boost comes on at different loads, gears and rpms. The only experience I have is driving my buddy's T04S FD at 14psi. I don't know what exhaust housing he has, and while it's not bad, I would like something more responsive. Rich(GoodfellaFD3S), Ihor(IRP) and Gordon Monsen can all vouch for my character.

Thanks!

If i ever went single turbo, GT35R is the only turbo i would go with. I dont think any other street FD needs something bigger.

And if i had that turbo, id let you rip a few gears

I wouldn't even let him rip a few farts in my car. Then again, I'm very partial about my cars.

Thanks darkside7 and 1qwik7! Yeah, looking back on my post, that's quite audacious of me asking someone to let me drive their single-powered cars. I should have asked if I could go for a ride in one. Realistically speaking, it isnt quite in my budget now anyhow.

You're welcome to drive my car Don, but it's not exactly what you're looking for as far as response.

I think a T4 35R would be the hot ticket for you, along with a smaller A/R on the turbine. What are your hp and boost targets? I saw a new Apex'i RX-6 setup for sale on the net not too long ago.

Why are people so reluctant to let a reputable guy drive their car? Its just a mazda. If I had a ferrari I'd let a friend drive it.

I have a customer's car with a 35r setup at my shop right now. He might let you drive it. I also have a 35r kit for sale. It has a BRAND NEW center section and the t3 .82 a/r housing. The kit consists of the 35r turbo, turbo manifold, HKS wastegate, and the 3" v-band downpipe. LMK if you're interested...

I would rather let a friend drive my new ferrari then a custom built single turbo rx-7 just because of the fact the ferrari is insured as a ferrari and the rx-7 is insured as just that, just a mazda. We put a lot of money into these cars sometimes as much as we paid for the car itself and alot more. Plus I feel when you add as much horse power to these cars as a single turbo car these cars become alot more prone to spinning out. Even a stock rx-7 is hard to keep in a straight line for most drivers. Even if a new car is faster then our cars they have traction control and are usually heavier. Plus I would feel terrible if something happened to somebody while letting them rip my hot rod LOL.

Ii know it's kind of funny. I have a friend with a 600AWHP GTR, and he lets me drive it whenever I want.. I've done a track day, autoX and drove half way to California on a trip we did. This was before I had ever driven anything with more than 180whp (my gts-t)... But I did practically build the thing so it may have had a part in why he lets me drive it.

If anything HE has a reason to not let anyone drive his car... and it's not like this person would be going through some backroads and doing some touge up a mountain... More like roll ons on a straight freeway, to see where boost comes on and how hard...
