Lightened Flywheels.

Just wondering what the recommendations are for flywheels on turbo Rx7s, especially ones with limited traction. Mines a 1st gen with a very honest 400rwhp, running an ACT ultralight cromolly swiss cheese flywheel , i believe 11lb or thereabouts. At the time i was thinking lighter is better but I've heard from various source that is not necessarily the case.
Just wondering what you guys opinions on single clutch flywheels and drivability at the threshold of traction and beyond.

Depends what you want to do. In general for road racing you want lighter to make rev matching easier. For drag racing you want some mass as the inertia helps keeps the revs up between shifts. For the street I prefer something in the middle. I usually go with the act street light for most cars.

Ok thanks. Its a street car with track days (road racing) in mind. Was entertaining the idea whether a heavier flywheel would make it easier to peddle out of wheel spin or not. Would it help smooth out the transition from traction to wheel-spin and back?

In general a light weight flywheel will be easier on the drivetrain.

Ok thanks. That is the other concern with this car. I actually dont mind the light flywheel. I think i'll keep it on.
