launching with boost?
There is a guy down here in south florida who builds boost to 10psi with his foot on the clutch.... anyone knows how he does this?

I've been using the 2-step, or more accurately just using my rev limiter set to 7800rpm's. It'll build boost as it bounces off the limiter. I've run some 1.61 60's doing this but.... A buddy lost an engine a couple weeks ago, he does this too.
Nearly all of the corner seals were broken. Apex's were fine. I really question the effect's on our engines doing this. Last time at the track I'm pretty sure I heard mine ping while waiting for the guy next to me to stage and using the 2-step. (It was the final round in an import event).
How many of you are using the 2-step and what do you think of it's effect's on the rotary?

Stage, floor it to hit the limiter and just release the clutch on green. It builds boost and does lower the 60ft times a little. Also very easy and consistent. I ran 12.40's all day 2wks ago and took home some second place cash. I'm just really concerned about hurting my seals. I know it can't be good for a rotary's health to put it into a misfire condition. It sure sounded like it pinged on me once as well.
Any thought's?

i would think it would be pretty rare to ping while on the line, if a engine is gonna ping it's generally gonna be when its under maximum load. ie: 3rd or 4th gear at around 5-7000rpm not while sitting on the line pulling 10psi with no load

Fact of the matter is, a buddy who's using the 2 step as well has 8 or 9 broken corner seals and perfect Apex seals upon teardown. Seemed kind of strange to both of us. That's why I started questioning the effect's of the 2-step on the rotary.
I'd love to know it's completely safe. It's soooo easy to launch off of it.

ignition cut would be good, that way you might be able to combust the unburnt gas when its in the exhuast manifold in antilag type styles hahaha
