Ive just fitted a gt35 turbo and a rebuilt engine with new housings etc,but when i took it for a test drive my knock meter is going crazy even on light loads.The most i saw when on the stock twins was around 30-50 at WOT but now its around 150 WOT and 65 light loads.please help as any info would be appreciated.

 

Either they didnt torque it right in the overhaul, or they dont know how to tune, eithe way take it back to the shop and start bitchin!

let's not be hasty here. The knock level may or may not be due to bad install... Do you have the wastegate going out a dump tube (open)? My T04S is properly installed (by me!) and it runs nice and rich on my wideband... everything is cool with the car.. but my knock levels are very high when on the boost. I think it's because I run the dump pipe and it picks up the noise.

So... have you checked if this is "real" knock? Do you have a dump pipe? Do you have a good ignition system? How are your AFRs?

I have an open wastegate on a T04E, and I get 14s on my knock on the max when I step on it.

Hummm Ignition, I forgot about that... (good one)

 

it may be the pfc or your knock sensor. my levels were around that then they toned down to normal after break-in.
