Killed my turbo, not sure why.

Killed my turbo, not sure why.
I have a Garett 60-1 t04s journal bearing turbo that has junked the entire CHRA. The turbine and compressor wheels were hitting the housings. The only time I've seen a turbo junk itself that bad was when there was debris in the oil. My oil is clean, the engine is fine. I had a -4 line feeding the turbo with a restrictor "designed" for journal bearing turbos. Could the restrictor have caused it to starve? I got the restricor because the turbo would always smoke a bit without it.
Anyone know where I can even get a replacement CHRA? Everywhere I look is ball bearing and I'm absolutely broke and cannot afford such a luxury right now.

the CHRA probably is undamaged, most CHRAs have replaceable bronze bearings. rebuild kit is about $100 plus shipping from turbocity.
loss of oil pressure can kill the flow in a journal bearing turbo, say if you have the restrictor in the line and lose the front cover o-ring it will be starving the turbo.
