jdm VS america. the big show-down
jdm VS america. the big show-down
so i just bought rotor8s ported motor that ill be swapping into my 93fd. my car is from japan.. blew my engine last summer. the new motor comes with the stock turbos which push 1.2 bars. i still have my blown motor and my turbos are in very good condition and push 1.5. would it be a problem if i swapped the turbos off my JDM engine onto my new america engine? the way i see it is the only thing that is different are the internal waste gates but im really not completly sure.. anybody have any idea? .. thanks!
the US cars got the same turbos as the Japanese cars for the year. All years turbos are interchangable.
That said, you're pushing the stock twins wayyyy past their limit. Keep the boost at around 1-1.035 bar if you plan on the turbos for lasting longer than a season.

yes i know that. and i got faith in my twins. i ran the **** out of them last season at 15 psi and after i blew my motor i looked at them and they were still fine. what do you mean it relies on the boost control system.. what would i have to do to make it push 15 psi? use the jdm ECU?

As far as boost control that dregg was talking about, he's reffering to the fact that the stock waste gate and actuators are too small to be trusted with too many flow mods(most notably, a midpipe), or with high boost applications.
I'm running a BNR 35mm ported wastegate. It only cost a few hundred bucks, and was worth every penny for the peace of mind that it provides.
Also, 1 bar is 14.5 PSI, so at 1.5bar you're talking about 21.8PSI.
