J&S falsing & mounting evidence that I am dumb
My J&S has been falsing for over a year now. I have tried different spark plugs, adjusted the sensitivity, checked all my turbo exhaust plumbing fasteners, changed the plug wires, etc. All kinds of stuff. I have gotten a few tips to check how tight the sensor is, but I kind of ignored them since it has a nylock nut and well, I just didn't think it would come loose.
Guess what! You know what's coming...
Well, I was replacing my SPA water temp sender today, so I decided to check the knock sensor. Of course, it was loose. The sensor was tight to the adapter stud (you can get a **** credit for that role!) but the stud was loose in the rotor housing. I removed the T2 spark plug, and unclipped the connector from the knock sensor (breaking it in the process). I then was able to spin the stud out of the rotor housing by hand. I then removed the sensor from the stud with wrenches. I put a little anti-sieze on the end of the stud and then put a little thread lock near the end of the threads that go into the rotor housing. That's a little crazy, I know, but I don't want it to corrode (hence the anti-sieze) and I also didn't want it to come loose (thread-lock, baby). I then put it all back together. I lost the wire on the electrical connector (it is just like a fuel injector connector), so I used a little safety wire to be sure the connector wouldn't work loose.
I would say this fixed my falsing, but after my loose and missing front sway bar nuts weren't the cause of my front end clunking, I am reluctant to proclaim victory before I go for a drive. I am in the middle of a 929 master cylinder and a MazdaRZ/Widefoot/Essex/Wilwood rear brake upgrade, so I can't drive the car yet. I'll report on that later.

Oh Oh Max
I guess we just have to be smarter than the bolts. Huh?
Let me know how the tightenup works for you. I still have The J&S I bought from Matt Ledbetter's in a box because I wasn't sure about it... what with you and Gordon having second thoughts about the usefulness of the unit.

LOL.
I could post more than my share of stories and that would definately make many people feel much better but i might bump into someone who read them. I don't ever think that they would ever let me live them down. Don't think I care but i give out enough free comedy.
