Intercooler + Piping ???

Alright so i have a stock intercooler from an evo 7. and i want to boost 13-14 psi on it. I think they can handle it since evos push 17-19?
but anyways since i dont want to pay 500 for making intercooler piping.
with one of these pipe kits

do you think theres enough pipes in there to get it close to a front mount that way if any other welds and cuts needed to be made here and there it would be more cost effective?

maybe this kit cause it seems to have more bends. What do you guys think?

Jesus, just go to summit racing's exhaust section and order some mandrel bent 16g exhaust tubing. I did my intercooler and exhaust piping for under 170. that includes but not limited too 16ft of 3" pipe, 16ft of 2.5" pipe, 2 3" radioused mandrel bent 180" in both 2.5id and 3id

Id buy 3 2.5" 180's and 16ft of 2.5" stright and you will have more than enough, and thats umm.. under $100 shipped i know that

The E-bay fellow is selling stainless tubing. It will be lighter and will carry less heat from a hot engine bay into the charge. The exhaust tubing at summit will be heavier and will likely be aluminized mild steel. The exhaust tubing could likely be sourced from a local exhaust shop even cheaper than from summit.

hope that helps,

eeee....so it would be better to go with the ebay kit?

where do you think i can get aluminum for a good price?

i called bassani, and they carry mild steel for real cheap for 2 ubends and 2 straight pieces for about 40 bucks. Would that be good to use for piping?

Aluminum tubing will be lighter than the mild steel, but will be even worse for heat soak. If you want a top quality job, use the stainless. If you want the cheapest option, use the exhaust tubing. Aluminum is probably a reasonable mid range if you aren't too worried about heak soak. As for where ot get aluminum tubing I can't really offer any suggestions.

I don't think you're going to want aluminized steel on your downpipe... that's going to see some serious heat and elements and will likely corrode quickly... Stainless would be better material there also.

Like someone posted earlier, check with a local exhaust shop for stainless also. I work for an exhaust shop and we can get mandrel bent stainless along with straight pipe fairly reasonable. Not to mention, they may have a TIG welder to assemble. Much cleaner appearance.
