Input on GT 66 turbo...I did a search first...

I am looking for input from people who have or know about this turbo. See my sig for current mods. I will take care of the fuel upgrade and of course Mohammad at MZM (www.mzmperformance.com) will have it tuned perfectly.

What kind of power can I expect? How will it be as a daily driver? (Not that I use the car as a daily driver...but if I did?)

Here is the write up on the turbo...Garret GT 66 ball bearing sinlge turbo with less than 4K miles on it. Compressor housing its a .55 and the exhuast housing is a .84 comes with HKS race gate waste gate, HKS 3inch downpipe with factory O2 sensor, SS braided line for the oil inlet line, HKS air intake filter, the turbo manifold, and maybe somthing else i forgot to mention.

Thanks for your input...and of course I will not install a single turbo until I run a 11.5et on the stock twins

You may want to try the single turbo section....my answer would be that if it's truly a Garrett GT66, it's WAAAAY too big. Period. Won't work. Won't fit under the hood. No kidding. Think GT40.

It may get moved to the single section but for now I am hoping for some input here. The turbo is currently installed on an FD...So it should fit.

I think he is talking about a T66. It probally wouldn't be a great daily driver if you were to use it as one.

and why do you want this turbo?

what kind of driving situations do you see yourself in?

is this a street car?

that is how you choose...not because its huge or because its cheap.

The car is mainly used at the drag strip. I drive it a couple times per month to work.

I am looking to eventually get down into the high 10s at the strip....

I had a turbonetics T66 with a 50 something AR(I can't remember the actual spec) on my TII with a large street port and it was great. I dynoed at 412 to the wheel with 18 psi. I never got to bump it up above that because I was hit head on by a stupid high school girl with no insurence. But I hit full boost at about 4600 RPM which isn't bad for a ported TII motor. It should drop with a ported 13REW because of the larger ports but even 4600 isn't bad. A lot of the supra's I build people are going with the T88's and they don't spool until 5500. The T66 is one of my most favorites, but if your looking for something that will get you to the 400's easily with a less lag, go with the 60-1 series turbo, that's what I currently run on a few of my custumers cars and will be on my own soon cause I road race a lot. Just my 2 cents.

Get the biggest turbo you can....haha
How's things? Happy to see you going single.
Are you going to port the motor later? How much boost are you going to push. No porting get a T66 with a .96 p-trim. Maybe a .84 a/r with a q-trim. If you go with a .84 q-trim, you can alway upgrade the exhaust side when you do port the motor. Just a thought. good luck.. Remember my set? T66. 2720lbs with me, 128mph equals 440-450wrhp at 20psi. S4 turboII motor. Your motor should push more hp at the same boost.

he probably means a .50 A/R on the compressor side.

turn the car off and you hear the blowoff valve open haha "wa-chhhh"

a GT66 would be waay too big. A ball-bearing T66 would not, however. Which is the turbo in question?

Go for the T-66. I dont drive My car much and ran a T-72 with a .96 hotside. It is a bit much for the street and You need a ton of fuel to get any where close to the "sweet spot". I am going with the T-66 now and think it will be perfect for a few strip runs a year and a couple of drives per week. If You have the fuel to run @ 22-24 PSI with a T-66, I think it will kick ***.

Nice deal...

Innovative makes an upgraded version of the t-66 which they call a gt-66, that may be what it is.
