Ignition system earthing

Does anyone know whether it is possible to earth the coils straight to ground rather than through the igniter and then condenser and then ground.
BTW when I say the coils earth, I am not referring to the earth that grounds out the sheild on the ignition wires.

If your talking stock, the stock ignitor/coil is grounded thru the assy housing to the chassis.

I am talking about the stock coil. You have a live from the ignitor. And on the other side you have a ground. My question is why does this not just go to ground rather than into the ignitior and to a condenser and then to ground?

I am setting up some ignition amps in the back of the car and I dont want to have to run the live and ground all the way though the car. I would prefere to run just the live though the car, and ground the coils out in the engine bay.
