I know I'm going to sound like a noob but....
I need help. Since my car was recently in a flood and my interior and the turbos are shot.....what the hell...time for a build! I want to go single, but have no idea where to start. I have never followed turbos and don't know the brands/turbo models. I was wandering if there are any "laymen's terms" guide to turbo's. If i search all i get is GT2343supercoolturbo vs 235r82s hot side with the 13469 setup....oh no I've gone cross eyed(austin powers). I just get too overwhelmed. What's a good starting point, any books i can buy? Once again, please don't tell me to search, since all the things I come up with are already over my head and i can't understand squat! How did you all get your vast knowledge on this topic?

Maxium Boost is a good book to start off with.
You have to first address your goals for your car that will meet your budget and then go from there.
There's a million choice out there as you've already realized.

Check out the single turbo archives and start reading.
Also spend some time over at www.turbobygarrett.com, look at the turbo 101 etc sections.

Goodfella: thanks for the advice...I'm already up to my arm pits in archives, lol.
It seems overwelming at first but after many hours of reading it all starts to come together. If I can give any advice it would be this:
Take a close look at the funds you are willing to spend on this project. To do a good reliable setup is pretty costly. Much more to it than just installing a "Kit". But it can be very rewarding when done right.
Good Luck! D
