How much power should I be making?

Hey guys, just stopping in to ask a quick and simple question: How much power should I be making with my setup?

Here is a spec list:
13b-Rew Reman
Gt60-1 Turbonetics with around an .80 A/R (est)
550cc Primaries
1660cc Secondaries
Aftermarket Fuel rail
Walboro 255 Fuel pump
Manual Boost Controller
3" Exhaust
Apexi PFC

I have a good friend who is used to tuning piston motors and seems like my car is running pretty good. I use it only on the track for drifting, but am a little curious about the numbers the car is making.

It dyno'd at 250whp and 230 ft/lbs of TQ if I remember correctly, in that range. does that seem normal for 14psi?

Basically, there is an event on a larger track that I am about to do and am wondering if I should press them to re-tune it, increase the boost, or both. Or do those numbers seem right under the normal circumstances?

The motor does not get too hot for drifting either, but could be because of the vmount, thanks for any help.

thats a bit low, you might need to get it tuned again by someone who knows rotaries, no offence to your friend or yourself, but rotaries are a bit different i learned my lesson on letting a piston tuner, tune my old rx7

None taken at all. I was thinking of having him try and re-tune before this next event. Im not sure if there are any good rotary shops/tuners in Missouri where I live.

There is possible to put another tune from apexi on it once again, maybe that would be a better starting point for him. Thanks for the input guys, Ill try to mention something to him

My good buddy back in the day made 355 @ 15 on a dynojet. Back then i was making 370 with stock non-sequential twins and I would take him by a slight margin everytime. I say thats low by 80 whp. g

Wow, I hope the tune isnt that bad lol, 80hp is ridiculous...

its a dynojet

Any tips that I might be able to shoot him? You think he is just running it rich as f*ck? I dont think he did any timing, but from what I have already read, rotary doesnt really respond much/well to timing...

Should I tell him to try to lean the map out more if it is running rich? If I dont have to raise the boost and get more power, I think that would definitely be ideal.

Also, this tune was probably done between an hour and 2 hours, do rotary tunes usually take a little more work (for an average tuner?)

Your making less horsepower then stock turbo's with stock injectors can do. What do you think? Your asking all the wrong questions. Its really simple, either something is wrong with your car or the tune. Tuner should be able to tell you why, otherwise take it somewhere else since your wasting your time there.

Thanks for the input, he said he will put more tuning time into it. I think the last time he tuned it there were other issues that they were dealing with, and needed to try to get it running straight before pushing for more.

Im really only looking for 300whp I think, to try to keep reliability, like I said.. I only drift it, and 300 is a good medium for a fully stripped/caged car.

Thanks for the info

Being cheap can cost more, pay the extra money and have someone who knows how to tune and knows what to look for in a rotary tune your car. Just 2 cents as I'm no expert.
