How Much Boost is Safe?
As far as air/fuel mods are concerned, I currently am running....
Turbonetics 62-1 Turbo
850cc Primaries 1600 Secondaries
HKS Twin Power Igniton
255 walbaro Fuel pump
KR2D Fuel-Rail
Power FC w/ Commander
- At 11psi, I made 326/287 on 93 octane.
The Car's currently in Georgia, where they have 93 octane.
My question and concern is, I'm stationed in San Diego, and I am shipping the car up here..
With there only being 90 octane fuel....how much boost can I safely run?
I was hoping to run around 14-15psi. Is that safe on 90 octane?
I've asked on various other threads, and I've been trying to read up, but no luck. :/
I just wanna know if that's possible, or if it's just going to blow after 2 months.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.
- Yoshi
BTW, Here's my current Air/Fuels.
The numbers on the left columns are my REW, disregard the #'s on the right side of the columns.

hahahahaha.....
Okay, let me throw this out real quick..
Yes, I'd like to do Aux Injection a little later..
But I'm talking about the here and now.
When I ship it to Cali, how much boost can I safely have it tuned for on only 90 octane?
Do I really need another fuel-pump? o_O??

I'm thinking 12-13psi max is all I am going to tune the car for, until I get some kind of A/I later down the road...
Besides the quality of the fuel, it greatly depends on how good your cooling system is (intercooler, oil cooler, radiator) and what kind of timing advance you are running.
and running 10:1 is NOT "maximum knock protection" . Although target AFR's vary depending on the application, You CAN detonate from rich misfire. Ask Brian Cain, he blew a motor that way.

I've got ALL the basic supporting mods to help with the various engine temps n' such.
Greddy FMIC, Griffin Radiator....even a vented hood....
:P
Still no thoughts yet on running 14psi safely on 90 octane??
