how much boost can stock S5 turbo handle?

how much boost do you think I run on the stock S5 turbo(ported waste gate) and stock intercooler for short periods of time? what's the top I should run for daily driving?

the stock s5 turbo reaches the peak efficiency at about 12psi, and from there on only produces more heat (not efficient) the max I have seen is 18psi run daily but he only did this for a month before he fried the barrings. so I would say 12psi is the max. without severe damage.

Back when I had an S5, I found it performed well up to around 11 or maybe 12 psi as jreynish has said. After that, it started getting a lot hotter and barely going any faster.

I ran around 13-14 daily for a few years with no problems, but really it was barely faster than at 11-12 except in the winter where the cold weather helped out some.

do you think I would be able to run like 14 psi on stock injectors and the stock ecu? I have a walbro 255 so I'm running pretty rich...

get supporting mods before pumping up the boost make sure that you have a good indicator like egt or afr guage.. when you do these things...
You don't seem to be listening;
so I will put it bluntly....
You can run the stock turbo to 14psi but you aren't producing any more boost you are simply adding heat.... 12psi is the max that is "usable" so if you want to run your turbo to it's max efficiency that would be 12psi on the stock S5 turbo.
If you want more go with a hybrid and supporting mods.

I know, but I was just thinking for like short time on the drag strip if I was going to turn up the boost. I'll probably just run like 8 psi for daily driving. If I get an egt or afr (or both) what kind of numbers would be ok? I don't want to get a hybrid because I'm going to wait to change the turbo till I buy an ECU and intercooler an stuff.

thanks alot for your guys' help.

10psi is a safe number for stock injectors.

I am running a S5 turbo on CLEANED 550's and I have 11afr's at idle wityh thw walbro and 12.5's under boost.

I start leaning out around 6500rpm.

Now I have accidentally hit 15psi for a few seconds when my wastegate line blew off BUT I in NO WAY want to run that much ever again on 550's.

Go get 720's for your secondaries and then a boost controller and the Rtek ECU 1.7 and you will set to do 12-13 daily.

I would get an Rtek but they don't make them for S5s

I would suggest that you run a max of 12PSI but not on the stock fuel system 10 is good with a walbro 255 and stock injectors.
But if you don't want to go hybrid because you want to do it fully then I would suggest just running stock boost levels for now until you can afford the full upgrade. but all at once if a fairly big bit.
I would simply get a safc and a good boost controller port the wastegate on the s5 turbi if not done so and run 10 psi with a walbro.
Good Luck.
