Talking How does this Holset look?

Just throwing this out here...want to make sure I'm buying a good turbo. I'm getting a quote from a local shop to see how much a rebuild would cost so I can put things in the "worse case scenario" perspective...but from the looks of it, that's not needed.

It's got the 19cm^2 exhaust housing which would be good for the top end, but not too big. The anti surge inlet, etc...

If anyone sees any issues with this please let me know. I'm going to weld the internal gate shut, or source a hotside without the gate. Going to run the biggest wastegate I can find, due to people having creeping issues with these...

I've got a Cosmo fuel pump, but am thinking about going for a walboro.

Spraying meth/water 50/50, Microtech LT8S, pretty much the supporting mods.

720cc primarys and 1000cc secondarys, but and swapping those 1000s out for some 1600s. (Does anyone know of any that can go in the stock rail?)

Going to pick up a divided HKS log manifold

Anyone know where I can get some 4" exhaust piping and v-band? Anyone fab them or should I try to cut and extend my Thunderfab DP?

I'm buying an Aeromotive FPR and an FC1000 to help out as well..

Also I've got a shitty greddy type S bov...will this be strong enough for boost levels around 18-20 psi?

My mindset is that after selling my BNR, stock manifold, and 1000cc injectors I'd only end up spending about $500 for this setup...I figure it'd be more responsive, hold boost better to redline, produce more power, and somewhat help with my coolant temps (turbo is just oil cooled and I'd buy a turbo blanket for it to contain the heat more)

This is a great link for all you Holsett people out ther. I have a 95 Talon AWD with the HY35 Holsett on it and I should be pushing about 390AWHP at 26psi. I start to see full bost at about 3,800rpm's. If my turbo was on my 7, I would see full boost by around 2,500(i would imagine).. You could kick some seriouse *** with the HX35 with the 7 blade wheel on it??

And JoeCrappa, how is that turbo gay??

Why would you want to use a Walbro over the Cosmo fuel pump?

The Walbro flows more than the Cosmo IIRC. I wasn't sure if the cosmo could keep up with the fuel demands under higher boost levels with this turbo.

I know the Holset turbos in general are great turbos, was just wondering if anyone saw a problem with this particular one from the pictures and spec sheet.

^Does that look like a T4 flange? I'm trying to get the specs on the wheels off the guy...seems like it would be a killer deal if it was remanufactured.

Anyone, the turbo in the main post..does it look like the blades are chipped at all on both the compressor and exhaust wheel?

Beware buying "new" holsets of ebay.

They are knockoffs from china with holset logo's on them.

There's a thread on www.realhomemadeturbo.com regarding this.

Just thought i'd throw that up to protect would-be buyers.
