How dangerous is it to play with a single turbo
How dangerous is it to play with a single turbo? I just got my motor rebuilt for the 2nd time and i want it to last as long as possible. what should i do to keep it safe? i want 400 hp. and im getting xs t04s kit in 2 weeks.

Get it dyno tuned with a wideband by someone with high-power rotary tuning experience and you should be fine. Get an FC-datalogit if you don't already have one, so that the tuner can have access to all the settings.
Other than that, just make sure you have the boost and cooling items under control. Intake temps and engine temps are about as important as proper tuning for engine longevity. Get a pop-off valve if you want to protect against overboost. I wish I had one when my wastegate stuck shut.
How did you blow the last two motors? Have you fixed the problem?

...and 400 hp at the flywheel or at the wheels...because you're probably not going to get 400 hp at the wheels with a t-04S AND engine reliability...

T-04R should do the trick for 400 rwhp...tuned properly of course.

There is a compromise for everything. If you want to make 400rwhp with little lag AND reliability, you are going to have to run more boost and therefore higher octane gas to stay reliable. If you want 400rwhp on low boost you'll need heavier porting and a less restrictive turbo.
