How big is too big?

I have a 88 T2 engine, that I am going to rebuild and I was think of putting on a 4 barrel carb and running this Hybrid turbo I have.

My question is how big is too big? The turbo I have is a T3/T4 hybrid, with GN style wheels.

The turbo was designed for my 2.2 litre engine, and was built to push 24 psi, but I was only running 18 Psi, due to fuel problems.

Questions are should I port this turbo engine I have to allow for the turbo to spool up faster?

I am building this setup into a dune buggy, and should be right around 200 hp @ low boost, and I wanted to go cheap, by useing a carb instead of injector.

Also another question, can I use a older 12A distributor on my 88 13B engine?

A T3/T4 hybrid turbo is too small, you need to run a full T4 turbo.

Can you explain what you mean by too small.

Too much exhaust flow made by the engine, or too small of turbo which creates too much heat?

Please help me out.

T3 is the turbine side of the turbo which is the part that is too small. That size turbine will choke the engine at high rpms. The T4 part of the hybrid is the compressor side of the turbo which is fine for a rotary to make good power. Hope that helps a little.

200HP at low boost? a stock standard 13BT makes that with a free flowing exhuast, everything else stock as the day it left the factory
