Hood heat shield issue!

i know this issue may seem elementary to alot of people here... but hey its an issue that i need to address, haha!

i have a t78 setup and its been on the car long enough to begin really breaking down the cloth style heat shield that lines the entire bottom side of the hood. in the area where the turbo is closest to, some is actually braking apart!

i just wanted to get some opinions. since the heat is so hot that its breaking down the heat shield, i definately shouldnt run without a heat shield at all, right? i imagine it could damage the paint on the hood fairly quickly without one?

also, any suggestions on a replacement? new oem ones run almost 200 shipped! what about the dyno-mat looking stuff that u see on muscle cars frequently?

any insight or suggestions would be great!

Lets put it this way.

Is the heat from the turbo boiling all the paint from your engine bay?

If not, then chuck the insulation pad in the trash. I have run my FC without one for a long time with a single turbo. If anything, look into some wrap for your manifold/downpipe as well as a turbo heat shield to reduce under hood temps.

THE HOODLINER will make it quieter though.

In my REPU I use this stuff called HLINER. It muffles intake and exhaust noises under the hood quite well. AND my paint will be cooler.

Check this out:

I lined the interior of my car with Damplifier, and I used the excess to line some of the underhood. No problems so far.
