HKS wastegate install question

I got the XS to4e kit and it comes with an HKS wastegate. There's an square piece of metal, looks like a flange with a lip on one side. Does this go between the wastegate and the exhaust manifold? If yes, which direction does the lip face? Looks like it faces the wastegate, but I'd like to make sure....

(Yes, I did call XS....salesperson doesn't know, and the only person there that does know is in the shop dyno tuning all day! "Call back on Monday" Yeah, thanks. Great customer support)

I know there is 2 pieces....One that is very thin and the other is about 1/4 inch think....Which are you talking about....

If its the thin metal gasket, then it does not matter...its a crush gasket...

If its the thick 1/4 inch spacer then...the lip faces into the wastegate....
Hope this helps...

both of them are placed in between the wastegate and manifold. the thick one goes against the exhaust manifold just like rotary 93 said with the lip facing in, then the thin gasket, then the wastegate.
