Help need going single turbo
Hey guys i need some hlep on going single turbo. I have t66 turbo and i'm sending my motor out to rebuilt and ported. The car is stock, what kind of set up do in need i looking to push around 500hp
Look for some of my posts, I spent all winter/spring doing research and building my car for 500whp. It's getting the tune this week, so I have yet to see if I actually achieved it, but I figure responding to you would be like good karma haha, so here you go.
Fuel -
----1600cc secondary injectors
----something bigger than stock primaries ( I have 720s)
----FPR
----better fuel pump(s) - either 2 walbros, 2 densos, or something big like I got Aeromotive Tsunami mounted in tank.
Turbo -
----You may need a bigger turbo - I have a Greddy T78, and its been proven to make over 500, but some people argue that its near the limit on most setups, so a T66 may not get you there. (I haven't looked into it though, so maybe someone has done it before)
----Quality intercooler, wastegate, BOV, boost controller, etc.
ECU -
----quality stand alone - with an amazing tune
Exhaust -
----3" at least, and very non-restrictive, this can become the limiting factor easily at this level.
Meth Injection system -
----If you are on pump gas - you need this to be safe. 500 on pump has been achieved without it, but the chances of your engine lasting are drastically reduced. You should have:
----progressive controller (raises flow rate as boost increases)
----Surflo meth pump (the 150 will be fine, but some guys use the 220) - Alkycontrol doctors these up a little bit, so they would be a good source to go to
----Nozzles to support 1200ml/min worth of flow at max boost (I have 625 X 2)
Drivetrain -
----A good one haha (6 puck sprung is usually the norm if you plan on driving on the street)
----A lightweight flywheel will help keep your numbers high
----PPF and differential may take a beating with that much hp, so you may want to upgrade (not always necessary though)
----You should def have your engine balanced during the rebuild too.
I probably missed a few things but that should get you started haha. Have fun spending lots of money.
