Arrow Help choosing my new single turbo setup?

1. Apexi IHI RX6 - discontinued
...too bad, the manifold is beautiful and perfect placement. I can't beleive there wasn't a shop that duplicated it. was a perfect short runner manifold. It would have retained air pump and A/C.

2. HKS SS manifold - (made for T51 KAI 56T 1.0 A/R) with Tial GT42 1.0 A/R v-band. Would rather do GT35R to GT40R instead but I don't beleive their SS are big enough to match. Moreover, if it is a long runner then i'd have to retain Apexi FMIC which means more custom work for the A/C.

3. HKS T04Z kit - Slightly larger turbo then I want but it's an actual bolt on without fabrication and retains the smog pump. Would also bolt on HKS v-mount to match which also retains the A/C. It even comes with elbow and intercooler pipes.

4. Rebuild current - Chop off T4 flange and weld on v-band flange. Turbo (is either GT35R w/1.0 or GT500 w/1.06) and manifold are still at A-Spec. I can have them do do the work or have it done localy (san diego).

5. Dual single - Tial GT25 internal wastegate parallel setup. It seems simple but will require alot of custom work that I can't do myself. This would also use a Knightsports v-mount kit with cold air front bumper intake. The ultimate goal would be oem placement to use the JDM ifini air pipe going two in to one just like stock. Recirculating BOV's and dual exhaust. This would be the ultimate setup. ...this was my priginal idea since I bought the car and saw Border Racing twins but cost of frabrication made me go single.

6. Part out and sell at an insane and disgusting loss. Buy a Skyline GTR and ION LSA plane. Keep motorcyle for modding and track.

#2 - Only matching v-band housing is GT42

#4 - Only current Tialsport v-band housing fot GT35 is .85 (no ETA on 1.06).

Wow, that is a list with ALOT of huge differences... Rx6 to GT42 to Dual GT25s....

What are your goals? What is wrong with your current setup? From your post it sounds like your tired of spending $ and taking losses.. If that is the case your best option is probably just working with what you have. Because no matter what other option you go with you will definitely be spending more.

WTF No wonder your fd has been "under construction" for so long, you have no idea what the heck your doing......First, start by choosing what kind of power goals and "streetability" you want. And second, don't come on here asking which turbo to choose from when two of the ones in question are a TO4Z and a IHI RX6??????

Why dont you just stick with your 500R kit and drive/have fun with your car???

1. Apexi IHI RX6 kit has been discontinued. You have still get the turbo from Power Enterprise but not the manifold.

2. GT42 too big for what I want.

3. What's wrong with HKS T04Z ...besides the price? Goals were chosen when I started but no longer want dual street/track race gas setups. GT35R and RX6 fit the goal (500R not necessary). I don't want long runner manifold, nor do I want the never ending fabrication that wastes money and goes nowhere. I want my A/C. The car is worthless without it. It was never intended to be a track only car. The Apexi manifold was pure sex! The problem with the kit was waiting a year to rebuild it. It's not like that hasn't happened with my Garett. so, what's your point? ...forget it, don't tell me your point it will side track this thread.

4. Tial stainless steel (non devided) housing is not available in 1.06 for GT35R. It was supposed to be but even eight months later they have no idea if it will be made. They do have a 1.0 for the GT40 which may fit but not sure. The specs are very close for 500R and GT40R from what I remember a long time ago. Still a possibility.

5. Still a possibility

6. will research Skyline GTR. Hitting the track this weekend (prepped CBR). Airplane would be a blast to take to vegas or wherever there's small airport.

Turbo is ready for pickup, so there's still a possibility to convert to a Tial housing. Unfortunately even after waiting forever there is no ETA on 1.06 for GT35R only a 1.0 for GT40 which is close but will have to verify it will fit. I still have to decide whether to retian FMIC or go V-mount since the engine is still out of the car. It would make more sence to deice any changes before I put her back together.

GoRacer,
Dont waste the money on an HKS kit. Sell your 500R if that is what you want to do then just buy a Garrett T04Z and bolt it to the A-Spec manifold. Problem is the T04Z and 500R are similar turbos.

Another option is get the HKS manifold, either the stainless or cast and buy a turbo to go with it. Only issue is HKS does not make wastegates other than the GT series which is a huge ripoff.

Another option is buy this from me at a good price
http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/hk...n.%20vband.htm

Get a GT35R with the tial V band, GT wastegate and fab a downpipe. Its still alot cheaper than buying any of the HKS kits.

I have a brand new HKS tubular S/S manifold for sale if you want it.

I bought it a couple of months ago for using with my HKS T04Z. But now I'm getting a custom manifold made instead, as my FD is RHD and the manifold comes too near to the steering rack shaft.

BTW what do you guys think of the Garrett T04Z (1.15+ A/R) vs. the HKS T04Z (1.0 A/R)?
