Heat Shield Removal

OK..I have searched. How the F*!# do you remove the heat shield from the stock turbos so I can get to the turbo bolts?

Do I have to cut it off? If so any hints?

Well, not sure what car you're talking about, but typically there are little bolts holding it directly to the turbo(s) and/or the exhaust manifold. At least on my RE twin turbo that was the case.

There seemed to be quite a few of them, so make sure you find them all. SATURATE them w/ penetrant first.

Thanks. I got the damn things off last night. I left the shield and just took the actuators off and was able to, very tediously, reach the Exh. Manifold bolts.

The stock turbo/manifold combo is a heavy SOB!

Yes it is. I was going to weigh it to see how much weight savings I'll manage, but I haven't done it yet. Everything combined has to be like 30 lbs or so... dunno.
