I am looking at merge collectors for my project car’s turbo manifold, and Burns Stainless suggested that I create a separate structure to support the turbo and then use a slip-fit collector to allow the manifold runners to expand and contract without cracking. Given the weight of the GT42R turbo I was planning on using a separate support structure anyway, but I’m a little hesitant to use a slip fit design. Has anybody had any experience with this setup? I’m concerned that it would vent exhaust gas and noise.

 

No problem with leakage, noise etc. but you must use the double slip design and a couple of tabs to hold the collector.

 

NAPA Truck parts has all the fittings you need, and/or they can order them. did you go 4", or 5" out, and T4, or T6? Carl
