I have a 60 gallon compressor that I just waited until it was almost empty 20psi ish, then hooked it up (don't have a regulator :P) and fixed all the leaks I could hear. Didn't focus on a gauge, cuz well I didn't have one lol. Made a WORLD of difference though.

I just bought a tester and am going to attempt to test everything tomorrow.

I was tuned and hit 454whp at 18psi, and a few months later i went back on another dyno (same brand) and only hit 405 at the same boost level.

My gauges still show 18psi, but the car is definitely not as fast as it used to be. Can a boost leak(s) cause this much of a loss in power while still allowing peak boost of 18psi to be shown on the gauge?

thats not a leak issue. lower boost thats a leak issue. but being in CT when was i dynoed both times temp wise? were your numbers corrected or uncorrected. youd have to know these things between the different dyno times and well you even stated a different dyno so theres a good 30hp difference the other 20 could be from temps if uncorrected yada yada the list goes on unless its the same exact dyno on corrected numbers you cant compare that. as far as not as fast you say, you probably just got used to it.

Ummm... didn't get a chance to pressurise the system again. But, I threw some used stock plugs in. I thought maybe my 10.5begv plugs might be the problem. No better.

Got to thinking, maybe it's the Profec Spec 2. Started playing around and got it to hold 14psi. My gain is 15%, Start Boost 150, Set 32.

Does that sound right to you guys are am I way off with those settings?

I got my last motor to hold about 18 psi for a few moments before my 3 gallon craftsman compressor kicked on and I could not hear for any leaks. It would slowly bleed off.

Most leaks were found at primary injector grommets and one coupler at the FMIC exit. Oh and my HKS SSQV was leaking a little.

I too had the damn tester pop off and it SCARES THE **** out of you lol.

Problem Fixed ??

Do those settings above sound right for a Profec B Spec II? I took it for another drive Sunday and it’s holding strong at 14psi. I still need to raise it to 15psi since that’s what it was tuned at. Hmm

I have heard of people plugging their exhaust tips when doing the pressure/leak test to help maintain pressure- peripheral exhaust port is always open.

You will find exhaust leaks and intake leaks then.

Bumping this up.

I have spent a bit of time looking for leaks. Amazingly I have found a ton of them!

Almost every coupler needed tightening, my BOV, and my throttle body leaks around the gaskets. The couplers were easy to fix. I got the BOV to a small leak, and I need to take off the TB and try to make up some other gaskets. I'm amazed how many there were!

For those that were curious I made my own tester for about $10. I used a plumbing cap, and a compressor attachment. The compressor I used was capable of 4 cfm @ 90psi. Of course I didn't test it that high but that's what the compressor was rated for

only need 15psi for testing should be spraying soapy water and observing bubbles for leaks.
the engine will not hold pressure and will always bleed off.
