So I should be ok then? I'm right at 1000C. I looked at the log on my last run and timing was 13 degrees, not 15 like it's set on the PFC...RETed mentioned that one should calibrate your EGT. Once you've established a safe a/f ratio (which I have), you can establish a safe EGT. I'm going to post a screen capture of my timing maps. Leading, trailing and split. Let me know what you think!

Steve, someone from Florida mentioned some time back they were trying to get a group together to fly you out to tune. I never heard anything additional and I was one of the interested parties. Any plans to come out our way in the near future?

Your EGT's are Fine.
1100c and then i would start to worry.
You could get a little more aggressive with your timing if you wanted too.
OR turn up your boost.
OR port your motor.
You definitely have a lot more potential in your setup.

Start with Tuning your part throttle/low boost since yours is excessively rich. This will make for a much smoother running car and will improve drivablitity greatly. Plus your car will acceralate much faster and this is what you'll want in a street car. Do this first then worry about your peak power later.

Your leading timing is all whack. Fixing that then adjusting split will give you more HP.

Already ported. Quite heavily. It's a Cosmo 2 rotor. Driveability is actually pretty good now but again, I think I could concentrate on acquiring better low end response (not sure if my timing is not agressive enough down low or I should run more split). I could go to 17psi but 15 is fine for now. On pump anyway. We're already into the 80's on a daily basis down here and the summers are one step away from hell. Literally.

Here's the map reference so people know what each row represents.

What specifically? Give me some pointers here so we can all learn :-) Is it just too "soft" down low? Does the progression at full boost look off?

My "full boost" setting uses row P18, not 19 or 20. Just thought I should clarify. N starts at 1000rpm and goes to 8800rpm although I do not see much need to go that high with the stock UIM and throttle body.

Also, my initial map had timing three degrees lower across the board with 9 degrees split. Going up three and closing split to 7 netted about 10hp.

re: EGTs
for what it's worth, i used my EGT gauge to fine tune my SCCA GT3 Roger Mandeville bridgeported NA motors. we dynoed them and when they made max power we just noted the EGT and tuned to that number at the track. 1750 (954 celcius) was the magic number. the probe was approx 4 inches from the port. normally due to weather, say august at Mid-Ohio (100 degrees, 95 percent humidity) i would need to drop a jet size to add 50 degrees to the EGT... obviously turboed motors may have a need for more cooling and thus i wouldn't be surprised to see a need for cooler EGTs.
